The course is for every Christian, both new and not so new. It’s for those who are progressing steadily in their faith and those who feel stuck.

Based on the Freedom in Christ discipleship course written by Neil Anderson, our ten-week Freed for Purpose course is foundational to our overall pastoral work, and the vision we have to see individuals and families discover lasting freedom through their relationship with Jesus.

The course is for every Christian, both new and not so new. It’s for those who are progressing steadily in their faith and those who feel stuck.

We aim to help you:

  • Grasp the amazing truth of your new identity in Christ
  • Break through to a greater level of maturity as a Christian
  • Uncover any areas of deception holding you back
  • Resolve personal and spiritual conflicts
  • Learn how to renew your mind and break free from negative thinking and unhelpful patterns of behaviour

The course and its related materials have also helped people from particularly difficult backgrounds to become fruitful followers of Jesus.

The course is led by an incredibly gifted and committed team led by Belinda Marsh who are involved in teaching, facilitating group work and individual freedom appointments.

"After a series of personal, tragic & unfortunate events, (no my name is not Lemony Snickett), I approached Belinda asking her for some kind of counseling to help me understand what was going on in my life. She offered the Freed for Purpose course. Initially I didn't think it would "scratch where I itched" so to speak, after all I had been a Christian for 30 years so what else was there to learn from what I perceived to be a foundational teaching course, but I thought I'd give it a go.

After the first couple of weeks I asked Belinda for a "one to one". I was linked up with a trusted friend who is also a course leader; she gently and kindly led me through the "Steps to Freedom in Christ". We invited Jesus into our conversations, asking Him to reveal significant things in my life. Speaking through the material provided, God intervened and graciously met me, set me free and restored me. I am also learning to choose to believe the truth of God's word despite what my feelings might say. Now, I would even go as far to say, I think everyone in the church should do the course!!"

"Session 9 ‘Forgiving from the heart’, was the most meaningful for me. There was one person who had wronged me in my childhood, who I knew I would struggle to ever forgive. The course taught me that I didn't need to tell the person I forgave them, but I did need to tell God I forgave them.

I thought this would still be impossible. Yet the very next day this person contacted me via email out of the blue after 17 years and I was shocked to find I felt no pressure or condemnation, just a sense of peace. It was finished, done with, laid to rest. I have learned there is no need to respond to the person directly but I forgive them for what they did to me. I may not forget what happened but it will no longer be a burden to me. The stone I have been carrying around in my chest since childhood has vanished. I am truly free! Romans 8:37."

"The reason I went on the Freedom Course was to work through some unresolved issues from my past specifically involving forgiveness. This was something that I had tried, (and failed), repeatedly on my own but I was still chained to the person involved and it was affecting my life in every possible way, so my friend recommended that I go on the course. It really was a fantastic opportunity and it's helped me so much.

I have finally managed to forgive this person and I am now walking free and unchained with so much more confidence and a list of memorised scriptures that I use whenever I feel anxious or threatened by Satan. I would especially recommend the freedom appointment at the end, as this is the perfect time to work through specific issues on a one-to-one basis, (with God at the centre of course!) and to consolidate what you have learnt from the course. All in all, it was a fantastic way to spend six or so evenings and my faith and relationship with God is a lot closer which has got to be a good thing!!"
